The Mark

The REWAP logo is an input, not a suggestion. This chapter preserves it exactly, then builds the rules that let it work everywhere.

2.1

From raster to master vector

The only supplied artwork is a 512 × 171 pixel PNG. It has been rebuilt as a vector without redrawing the identity.

How it was made. The geometric parts (the double ring, the key shaft, the skyline, the key-tip chevron, the roof and the four window panes) were measured from the raster and rebuilt as exact shapes. The lettering of REWAP and BROKERAGE was traced from an eight-times enlargement, cleaned of compression noise and fitted with smooth curves. No letter was replaced with a font: the letterforms are the original’s.

What remains approximate. At very large sizes the traced serifs are slightly softer than a designer’s original file would be. If the logo’s author holds the native vector, it should replace the traced lettering; every rule in this chapter stays the same.

Anatomy and geometry

Measurements are in master-artwork units (the artwork is 470.3 units wide). They are the reference for any redraw, animation or embroidery file.

Construction drawing: horizontal guides for key top, cap height, BROKERAGE cap and base lines, the ring ellipses and their shared centre, the 90-degree key tip and the roof triangle

  • Proportion470.3 × 160.4 units, a 2.93 : 1 horizontal lockup. The ring sits left of centre; the key runs right.
  • RingsTwo concentric ellipses on a shared centre, 166.6 × 156.4 and 134.7 × 126.9 at the stroke centreline, each about 4 units thick. They are 6% wider than tall, and they break cleanly behind the lettering band.
  • LetteringR, E, A and P share a 48.6-unit cap height. The navy W rises 23% taller (60 units) and breaks both the top and the baseline, which makes it the visual centre.
  • The houseA bronze roof (28.8 wide, 27.6 high, inner pitch about 60°) sits in the W’s lower notch over a two-by-two window. Its height is the logo’s measuring unit, r.
  • KeyA shaft 59.2 units tall with a 90° tip; frame weight 4.3 to 5.2 units. BROKERAGE is set inside at a 26.1-unit cap height, 54% of REWAP’s.
  • SkylineNine masses along the top of the shaft, 8 to 28 units high, including two gables that echo the roof in the W.
  • ColorBronze: a vertical metallic gradient from #E9CBA2 to #6E4A27 with a fine dark bevel. Navy: #2D4055 to #050C16 on the W; flat #0E1A27 on BROKERAGE.

An honest assessment

The system is designed around the mark’s strengths and protects it from its limits. Nothing here is a reason to replace it.

Strengths

  • A literal keyThe ring-and-shaft silhouette reads as a key from across a room. It is ownable and directly about the business.
  • A strong centreThe oversized navy W with its house is memorable on its own, which makes a credible sub-mark possible.
  • Built placeThe skyline places the firm among buildings rather than in a generic suburb.
  • Two-color disciplineOnly bronze and navy. That restraint carries straight into the palette.

Limits

  • Detail densitySkyline steps, windows, bevels and gradients fill in below about 200 px wide.
  • Small BROKERAGEAt 54% of the main cap height it becomes the first thing to fail at small sizes.
  • Metallic finishGradients do not survive one-color print, embroidery, engraving or fax. Flat and one-color versions are required, not optional.
  • Touching lettersR–E and W–A nearly touch; on dark grounds the navy W disappears unless the reversed version is used.
  • Wide formatAt 2.93 : 1 the full logo cannot fill square spaces such as avatars and favicons; it needs a derived mark there.
2.5

Clear space

The house in the W is the measure. Keep one roof height, r, clear on every side of the artwork. At a 300 px wide logo, r is about 18 px.

Placement

The logo signs the page; it does not decorate it. One appearance per view.

  • Website headerTop left, full color, 200 to 240 px wide on desktop. On phones the derived wordmark at 120 px keeps the header to 64 px tall.
  • FooterReversed version on Night, with the legal name and address beside it.
  • Letterhead and contractsCentred or top left at 2.25 in wide, one-color navy for legal documents.
  • SignageFlat two-color on a Gallery or Registry Navy panel; never on glass without a solid backing.
  • Over photographyAvoid. If unavoidable, place the reversed version on a solid Night field inside the image, never directly on a busy area.
  • With affiliated teamsREWAP leads, the team mark follows at equal height, separated by a 1 px rule and 2 r of space. See 7.4.
2.9

Misuse

Each of these has happened to a brokerage logo somewhere. None should happen to this one.

Logo stretched horizontally
Do not stretch or squash
Do not use full color on navy
Logo recolored to yellow gold
Do not push bronze toward yellow gold
Logo with a heavy drop shadow
Do not add shadows, glows or extra bevels
Logo rotated
Do not rotate or set on an angle
Logo on a busy patterned background
Do not place on busy images or patterns

Also prohibited: retyping BROKERAGE in another font, separating the key from the ring, reordering the elements, outlining the artwork, or animating the letters individually.

Derived marks

Built only from parts of the existing logo, for spaces the full lockup cannot fill. They are proposals pending Hong Tran’s approval and never replace the primary mark.
